Their first appearance was in 2002 FIFA World Cup which was played in South Korea and Japan. They defeated France in their first ever World Cup match which was a World Champion. Senegal in 2002 World Cup:
Senegal appeared in a World Cup for the first time in 2002 where they were advanced to Quarter-finals with their terrific performance and ended the tournament on 7th place. They defeated France 1-0 while played a draw against Denmark and Uruguay.
In the Round of 16, they defeated Sweden 1 – 2. But in the Quarter-finals, Turkey defeated them 1 – 0. Although they were unable to win the World Cup. But that was an amazing performance by the debutant team.
Senegal in 2018 World Cup:
In 2018 World Cup, Senegal has been drawn into Group H with Poland, Japan, and Colombia. In their first match, they have defeated Poland & will play their 2nd & 3rd match on 24 & 28 June respectively against Japan & Colombia. There are clear chances that they can advance to the next round.
